I've set up an Enhanced Messaging LINE channel in a Sandbox (UAT) org following the official setup guide (service.messaging_line_create) step by step, but inbound LINE messages never create a Messaging Session in Salesforce, and I've exhausted every troubleshooting avenue I can find.

Setup:

Enhanced Messaging LINE channel, Omni-Channel routing to a Queue that supports Messaging Session

Webhook URL correctly configured in LINE Developers Console → clicked Verify → Success

"Use webhook" = On, Auto-reply and Greeting messages disabled in LINE

Channel Activated in Salesforce, Omni-Channel status = Online/Available

Refreshed the channel connection (re-authenticated Channel Secret/Access Token) — no change

What I've checked, all clean:

LINE Developers Console → Webhook errors: 0 errors (with Error statistics aggregation on)

LINE Verify: consistently returns Success

Salesforce webhook endpoint (…/commongateway/line/ucom-message/{platformKey}) reachable externally, returns HTTP 405 on GET as expected for a POST-only endpoint

MessagingSession and MessagingEndUser: 0 records, ever

Debug Logs (trace flag on the "Automated Process" user, SFDC_DevConsole level, active during every test): 0 log entries generated, even right after sending fresh test messages

Tried to check the "Enhanced Messaging Log" mentioned in some docs, but couldn't find it anywhere in Setup Quick Find in this org — does this require a specific permission, license, or release version to appear?

Since LINE reports successful delivery (implying it got a 2xx response) but Salesforce shows literally zero trace of receiving or processing anything — not even an Apex debug log — I suspect either a silent signature-verification failure on the inbound webhook, or a platform-level issue with this specific channel that isn't surfaced in any UI I have access to.

Has anyone run into this exact symptom (webhook verified + zero errors both sides, but zero MessagingSession/debug log activity) with Enhanced Messaging? Any pointers on where else to look, or whether "Enhanced Messaging Log" requires something specific to enable?

Org type: Sandbox (UAT). Channel type: LINE, Enhanced platform.

    Hi Wanatat,

Since the LINE webhook verification succeeds and there are no webhook errors, but Salesforce is not creating any MessagingSession or MessagingEndUser records, I’d focus on the Salesforce channel connection and inbound message processing rather than Omni-Channel routing.

I’d verify that the LINE channel is connected to the correct Messaging/Enhanced Messaging configuration and that the Channel Secret and Access Token belong to the same LINE Messaging API channel whose webhook is being tested. It’s also worth confirming that the test message is being sent from a LINE user who can actually interact with that channel.

The fact that there are no Automated Process debug logs is particularly useful, because it suggests the request may not be reaching Salesforce’s messaging processing layer at all.

If everything is configured correctly and you still get zero MessagingSession records, I’d recommend opening a Salesforce Support case and providing the channel configuration, LINE webhook verification result, timestamps of test messages, and the fact that no Salesforce-side processing/log activity is generated. That should allow Salesforce to check the backend messaging logs for the channel.

Hi Trailblazer Community,

I’m currently preparing to migrate existing WhatsApp numbers into Salesforce Service Cloud using Digital Engagement, with incoming conversations routed to agents through Omni-Channel. We already have Facebook Messenger channels running through Digital Engagement and Omni-Channel, so I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has completed a similar WhatsApp migration, particularly when migrating existing production numbers from another provider.

There are a few areas where I’d be interested in hearing about your experience:

1. WhatsApp vs. Facebook Messenger setup

Can we expect to reuse most of our existing Messenger setup and routing approach — for example queues, routing configurations, Omni-Channel, Messaging Components, automated messages, opt-out/STOP handling, and business-hours logic? Or are there important WhatsApp-specific differences or limitations we should plan for?

In particular, which parts of an existing Messenger implementation can typically be reused, and which parts normally require separate configuration for WhatsApp?

2. Two-step verification on the WhatsApp Business Account / phone number

Salesforce documentation indicates that two-step verification needs to be disabled as part of the connection/migration process.

What I’m less clear on is when it can safely be enabled again.

Can two-step verification be re-enabled immediately after the number has been successfully connected to Salesforce, or does it need to remain disabled until the WhatsApp channel has been activated and the migration/cutover is fully complete?

Related to this, when the number is initially connected to Salesforce, does the WhatsApp channel start in an inactive state, allowing us to complete the Salesforce configuration before activating it?

3. Access to the actual WhatsApp phone number during setup

Do we need to have someone available during the migration who has access to the actual phone number? For example, is a verification code sent by SMS or phone call during the Salesforce/Meta setup that needs to be entered manually? If so, at what stage does this happen?

I’m particularly interested in understanding which people and access we need to have available during the production cutover so we can plan this in advance.

4. Migration from the existing provider and downtime

The numbers are currently handled through another platform (Falcon/Brandwatch).

One of the main things I’m trying to clarify is the relationship between connecting/configuring the number in Salesforce and the actual production cutover.

When the number is initially connected to Salesforce, does it remain active and operational through the existing provider while the Salesforce WhatsApp channel is inactive? In other words, can we connect the number, complete the Salesforce configuration, routing, etc., and then activate/cut over at a later planned time?

If so, what exact action triggers the number to stop working through the existing provider and start working through Salesforce?

For example, does the cutover happen:

  • When the number is initially connected to Salesforce?
  • When the WhatsApp channel is activated in Salesforce?
  • During a separate Meta/WhatsApp migration step?
  • At another point in the process?

Understanding this distinction is particularly important for our cutover planning, as we’d ideally like to complete as much of the Salesforce configuration as possible while the number is still operational through the existing provider.

I’d also be interested in any experience with downtime during the migration. Was there a period where the number was unavailable on either platform, and if so, approximately how long did the cutover take?

5. Rollback considerations

For anyone who has done this in production, how did you approach rollback planning?

If an issue is discovered after the number has been migrated and activated in Salesforce, is there a practical way to move the number back to the previous provider? Or should the migration effectively be treated as a one-way cutover, where rolling back would require performing another provider migration?

Any experiences, lessons learned, documentation, or recommendations around planning the production cutover would be greatly appreciated — particularly anything that caught you by surprise during the migration.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Christoffer,

A lot of the existing Digital Engagement/Omni-Channel architecture can be reused, such as queues, routing configurations, Omni-Channel flows, and business-hours handling. However, WhatsApp has some channel-specific setup and Meta/WhatsApp requirements, so I’d validate each component rather than assuming the Messenger configuration can be copied directly.

For the migration itself, I’d plan for someone to have access to the WhatsApp number and the required Meta Business Manager/WABA permissions during the setup, since verification and migration steps can require access to the number.

For the cutover, I’d also treat the connection/migration and the actual channel activation as separate steps in your runbook and test the complete flow in a non-production environment first. The exact behavior can depend on the WhatsApp/Meta setup and the existing provider.

Since you have several production-cutover questions around 2-step verification, activation timing, downtime, and rollback, I’d recommend confirming those specific points with Salesforce/Meta for your exact migration scenario before scheduling the cutover. If you can share the Salesforce WhatsApp setup/documentation you’re following, the community can also comment on the specific steps.

Following the instructions in "Enable Digital Experiences and Set Up Messaging" I keep getting this message when clicking the "Verify step to earn 100 points":

"Step not yet complete in MIAW Org

Make sure you created and connected to the Developer Edition org with Messaging."

Since I'm new to Salesforce and the Digital Experiences I'm not sure what went wrong and how to fix it.

I tried to delete and start over - but when trying to delete the routing configurations it says I don't have permission to do that action - so I'm kind of stuck at this point.

    I have found the issue.

For whatever reason following the "Create a Queue" step didn't produced a queue, which then made selecting "Category 1 Biking Queue" in the "Omni-Channel Routing type" in the "Create a Channel" step impossible.

Trying to create a new queue resulted in an error when trying to enter the Routing Configuration for "Category 1 Biking" ("

    Error:

No matches found."). So I had to click the search icon next to the input, then "Clear Search Results" to see a list of possible Routings in the Search Results (and click the Category 1 Biking).

After that I saw the new created queue, and the rest of the process could be completed.

I have created a custom button to launch MIAW Chat on Community page and have hidden the standard button by setting visibility as always hidden. But after starting a chat , unless the user clicks on 'End Conversation' and closes the chat window , the standard button will always be visible. Even if agent ends the session , the user can still send new messages or just minimize the chat window. The conversation does not end. If user logs out with keeping the chat window and again logs in after sometime , chat window is still open on that page. Basically the custom button is of no use if user starts a chat and  doesn't end conversation and closes window.

Is there any APIs or any other way to close complete conversation when Agent ends the session?

@Don Schueler How to programmatically determine if a MessagingSession was ended by the new "End Session Based on Inactivity" automation vs. manually by an agent?

0/9000

I was successfully able to setup Messaging for In App and Web in my sandbox and it's working fine. Now I have deployed the complete MIAW setup to higher orgs via VS Code , I was able to deploy all the sites, networks, Messaging Channel, EmbeddedServiceConfig, VF Page etc. successfully.

But I'm facing error while publishing the embedded service. I'm getting a success mail saying that the site is successfully published but I'm getting below error just after clicking "Publish" :

Something went wrong, Gack ID: 1839136551-31169 (1553746173)

Also, the "Test Messaging" is disabled. The VF page which was created in the previous org , I have deployed that as well and updated all the urls in the page to new sandbox but still it doesn't help. Since it's mentioned that they will create a new vf page , I tried deleting the deployed vf page but still same issue.

Any help would be appreciated. Although I can create a new embedded service manually in the new sandbox but it would be good to fix this. As I have deployed all components , just need to publish it.

In legacy Live Chat, we used to show all chat transcript record for a particular Case on our community case detail page in a related list. It seems we cannot do the same in MIAW because we can only fetch the conversation via Connect API. Just came across this MIAW feature that it allows end users to see old conversation if they are verified. Can anyone please help with how to verify users for this. I have seen multiple documents but they all seem to be about external Websites and android apps. I need this only for Community.

Not sure , if it will serve our purpose because we display chat button on Case Detail page and would ideally like to see conversation for that particular case only but one end user can have multiple cases.

We spent about 2 hours on the phone with our IT person and the SF support team to get it set up in our sandbox. I could not tell you what they ended up having to do at the end of all that. BUT also, we were told after all of that we really did not need User Verification since all of our users will be authenticating in from Experience Cloud not an external platform. I am sure that may have changed by now. We had to abandon that project for others.

Is there a way I can see my Messaging Session records from Salesforce mobile app? I can see them when I'm in the browser (Chrome) but when I try to access them in the mobile app, I get this error 'You can't view this item in Lightning Experience'. Same happens with MessagingEndUser and MessagingChannel records.

As you start using Messaging more in your own support center do you foresee changing the UI for Messaging to make it more integrated like Live Agent? Today the difference between these two products is stark and easy to see which was SF native and which was bolted on. We have struggled with user adoption and efficiency of the Messaging because of UI - would love to add on WhatsApp as we know our customers would use this platform, but are hesitant because of the product and unclear intersection of "messaging users" and our actual "person accounts" in harmonizing the customer data.

Thanks @Mark Abramowitz - we definitely aren't using that version - even though we think we are using Digital Engagement. I will reach out to our Service AE to find out what we're doing wrong.
