#Lead Conversions1 discussing

Hi Trailblazers,

I'm exploring ways to improve lead management and customer engagement for a transportation service business that relies heavily on online inquiries and booking requests.

Our website generates inquiries for airport transfers, corporate transportation, and private chauffeur services. As the number of inquiries grows, we're looking for a better way to organize leads, track customer interactions, and ensure timely follow-ups without relying on manual processes.

We're currently evaluating Salesforce and would love to learn from others who have experience implementing it for service-based businesses.

A few questions for the community:

  • What is the best approach for integrating a website with Salesforce for lead capture?
  • Which Salesforce products or features are most useful for managing customer inquiries and bookings?
  • How do you automate follow-up emails and customer communication after a lead is submitted?
  • What dashboards or reports do you use to monitor lead quality, response times, and conversion rates?
  • Are there any recommended workflows for businesses that receive appointment or reservation requests through their website?

For context, this is the website we're looking to connect with Salesforce and optimize for lead management.

I'd appreciate any advice, best practices, or real-world experiences you can share regarding Salesforce implementation, automation, and reporting.

Thank you for your insights!

Hi. I am setting up the Lead conversion for our org, and I don't want to give our users the options to merge the Lead to existing Contact. I only want the option to create a New Contact, whether they are creating a new account or adding to existing account. Other than adding some kind of validation rule that prevents conversion if they pick Choose Existing Contact, is there another way to disable this function. Ideally, I would remove that option from the conversion window and only offer the New Contact option upon conversion. See attached image for reference.

Any ideas appreciated. Thank you!  #Lead Conversions

@Milena Fried Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done to the conversion window. I meant on the Lead record page, assuming you're using a Lightning Page. Just pop a rich text component somewhere close to the top. "Lead Conversion Guidelines" or something to that effect that explains that trying to convert into an existing Contact will not work etc.

We are using the platform for both sales and recruiting. Currently our leads convert pretty standard- into a contact which is associated with an account and opportunity.

I am wondering if there is a way to allow an option of the lead converting to either a contact or our other record type "Candidate"?

@Andrew Russo I thought that might be the case. I will look into using the contact then. Thanks!

Check for Lead settings and if the checkbox "Hide Opportunity Section of Convert Lead Window" is checked. If check unchecks it. For more details please refer screenshot.

Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

I recently penned a guest contribution article for the AppExchange blog on how how revenue teams can increase closed/won conversion with service level agreements (SLAs) and the AppExchange. Check it out here, and let me know if you have any feedback.

I have approval process on Lead object (The Final Approval Action is Field Update Status = Closed Converted). When a Lead record goes to approval, once it is approved I want to create a account record automatically. I have used process builder with condition When Lead Status = Closed-Converted then Create a Account record. I working only when I click save button manually. But I want to create record automatically. The entire process is working fine but it needs manual save click. Is there any way to do this?

    Hello,

As part of your approval process on the final field update, is the box reevaluate workflow rules set to true?

I've used this in the past to trigger a process builder automatically without the need for manual intervention.

    Thanks Tom

I am working on a project where the client requires Lead/contact scoring using keywords from email subject and/or body. Is there a way we can do that in Pardot?

Misbah Sheikh. You mean if you send email to customer and then open or click it you need a scoring in pardot?

Or do you mean if customer replies on the email then whatever content is in the body depending on that you need to do the pardot scoring?

First one is possible, reason you know which email you have sent and you can write automation workflow or in journey builder you can do it.

second one is not possible in pardot, you need to extract those words in salesforce using Apex/Flow and then sync that back to pardot using custom field and then write a automation in pardot to score accordingly.

    Hope this helped!

Hello, we are in the Lightning platform. I've noticed that when we click the convert button in leads it doesn't allow us to tie the lead to an existing contact and/or opportunity. I did some research online and found that there is a way to have a pop-up screen that allows you to search for an existing account, contact, and oppty or create new for any of them. For some reason I can't figure out why this is. Do person accounts need to be enabled? The first screenshot shows what our button looks like in current state. The second screenshot shows what we're hoping to get. Thank you!

Hello everyone. I have a Lead_Score formula field on the Lead object. I created a Lead_Score field (number) on the Account but the system wont let me map it from the Lead  to the Account. I get a message that says that the mapped fields must be of the same length. The thing is my Lead_Score field on the Lead is a formula, so I dont get to set a length.

What is the best way to transfer formula fields from Lead to Account?

    The Lead Lead_Score formula is (score1__c + score2__c + score3__c)

    Thank you.
